HISTORY
The basis of our work, without a doubt, is transhumant Spanish merino wool, emphasizing this element for its importance in the ecosystem. Herds that transhumance strengthen biodiversity, maintain the royal ravines, clean and move seeds from the north to the south of the Iberian Peninsula and prevent fires, which, as we are seeing, are a continuous plague during the summers, not only in Spain but also in the rest of the world.
The care and fair price will be the only ways to maintain this tradition, thus being able to see new generations willing to carry out this important work that today is disappearing largely due to poor sales and low prices that cannot support the farmers themselves. . We have the firm purpose and we believe that this is the first measure to thank you for your infinite effort.
We are in a moment of generating alliances with other economic agents involved in the manufacturing process in the different stages of the production process of raw materials, artisans specialized in other trades that could complement and help us to make the final result exquisite.
We believe that, in this complicated moment, where Spain has great forgotten potential, and Spanish merino wool is combined as the best in the world, together with great artisans, it is necessary to find a way to value and enhance this magnificent product.
Finally, talking about the manufacturing process, touching on all the points, is just a mere detail of each of them, but I think it is important to know the steps.
The merino wool arrives at the workshop washed and selected (previously we have gone to select the best fleeces, since the final work depends largely on this step), the Devil is the first process in the workshop where the wool is made into velijas, openers, series of rollers with hard and thick spikes are progressive so that the wool opens and facilitates the passage to the smearing card, in the dressing card the wool already has the consistency of a fine veil and allows the craftsman to measure the thickness for later make the different types of thread, depending on the weft and warp needed to weave and make a blanket. Continuous carding will give us a finer and thicker material from which a first thread already comes out…. We continue with the torcedora, which is responsible for braiding the wool to give strength to the thread and create the base that will go to the loom.
Once we have the different threads and thicknesses, we will move on to weaving. This process varies depending on the different types of looms and fabrics, where experience and work lead to making.
Once the piece is finished, it will go to be washed and fulled so that the fabric will have a different texture depending on the work, air-dried to maintain all the properties of the wool (lanolin), and to conclude it will be finished where each fringe is made by hand. hand, cut and quality control.
We weave on looms that date back to 1920 following tradition, but providing our personal style, a softer and lighter fabric that provides the same warmth without weight, it is a constantly changing process, looking for new designs that provide color and elegance, without neglecting the natural colors of the sheep that we like so much.
Each blanket has a unique design, and its completion is done manually.
In our workshop we can customize the blanket with different embroidered motifs, both corporate image and initials or company names.
We have a limited stock, we manufacture with the rhythms of craftsmanship, when a client requests a special order, we will give the times, if at that time it is not possible to serve everything they need with closed dates.
CREATION
Birth
Machine used in the first spinning process to defibrate and mix the tangled wool, give it its first life and show us its true potential.
In this image you can see the first veil of fine and subtle wool like your future blanket, this is where the first thread is born.
Process
Your blanket is already being knitted with a point that allows us to make it lighter and softer as well as resistant to time and use.
Once the piece is finished, it will be washed and fulled so that the fabric will have a different texture and will always air-dry to maintain all its properties.
Ending
If your model is not available, we will weave it for you, always remembering that, as such craftsmanship, we must always stick to the times necessary for maximum quality manufacturing. The fringes are made by hand, cut and quality control.
